The perfect tool is an ideal that can never be achieved, and yet, I often find myself saying “If I only had X, then I could finally do this thing I have always wanted.” This is sometimes true, but most of the time it’s not.
The perfect tool can be a physical tool, a piece of software, a state of mind, or even a place.
I sometimes tend to spend more time looking (or making) this so called perfect tool instead of doing the damn thing. It’s a kind of structured procrastination.
This concept is sometimes called the Toolbox Fallacy (youtube.com, where I first learned about it)
Having a hammer is not what makes a carpenter. Using a hammer is what does.
